Let’s Put The Refinance Question To Rest

November 7th, 2007 · No Comments · Refinance

I’m a subscriber to a lot of online and offline mortgage publications and there are several common questions that…frankly, I’m sick and tired of.

It’s time we put these to rest and help the average Stupid Home Owner start asking the “right” questions.

The two most common questions you’ll find are;

1. When is the best time to refinance?

2. Should I (or when should I) refinance?

If you are asking those questions, you are starting out on the wrong foot.

For example, a common statement is to refinance when you can get at least 1%-2% lower interest rate than you have now.

It’s a total myth! In fact I can show you several examples when refinancing at a higher rate than you have now can make sense.

As soon as you become “interest rate focused” you lose the game.

The only way to understand when and if you should refinance is to really just have a refinance plan. I’m still amazed that 99% of the people who attempt a refinance don’t have a plan and are NOT prepared. Here’s exactly How To Get Your Refinance Plan started.
